No. 34 – 28/5/09 – DIY GG to Kings Lynn and back 330Km

Quite pleased with it – 7 months since my last 300 attempt. Very good speed (18.2). Interestingly, the long sections of flat terrain were just boring – it sounds a good idea for speed purposes but it’s just not very interesting to ride.

A snappy ride to Cambridge and a bit beyond. Good time on my fixie 21.5Km/h average – fastest ever!

Going back to the much easier (or so it seemed after the last dreadful ride) fixed bike, I did the Cambridge ride very swifly – and quite easily too. I didn’t have to walk at ALL – I managed to climb every hill on the way.

No. 32 – 10/5/09 – DIY GG to Oxford 110Km

I had high hopes for this ride. Last time I managed a very high average for this route – and that was on a fixed bije.

This ride was my first time on a geared bike after a very long pause. From all I heard I was supposed to be so much stronger that I would literally fly on geared bike, having spent several good months training with my fixie. Guess what – I was absolutely shattered after 150 Km and had to call devoted wife for a rescue mission. The word ‘pathetic’ doesn’t even start to describe how I felt. I was just plainly tired and exhausted and I figured that if I go on at that pace I’ll get home after miodnight or something – just too late. So I have thrown in the towl and waited in the Aylesbury petrol station for some 40 mintes until help arrived. While I did about 150Km I am claiming just 100Km – the ‘one way’ trip.

Yet another rode that I just don’t remeber – except that it was on a fixed bike and the ususal 200Km round circle.

No. 30 – DIY GG 208Km and how things change in life

Once I was told that I did not get accepted to the LEL09 a lot of th eenthusiasm and the planning and the excitement went flying out of the window. I continued to cycle, of course, but had no apetite for updating this blog. Having spent a vacation in Florida without a single cycling event (except for buying a cycling ‘bib’…)

So, inevitably – I remeber very little of those AUDAX rides that I failed to doocument at the time. This one is no exception. I have done my traditional route (via Aylesbury and Bisops Starford and East London and it was – I guess – just fine… I was riding my fixie and was a happy bunny. Sorry – nothing else comes to mind.
